How Football is Being Used to Promote Gender Equality in Uganda

A community-based organization in the slums of Ugandan capital Kampala is organizing soccer games for both boys and girls to promote inclusivity and equality.

Girl Up Uganda says unisex football games equip boys with the knowledge and information to challenge deeply-held gender normative attitudes and beliefs and improve their knowledge around equality and key areas such as sexual and reproductive health and rights and gender-based violence.
