Young Craftsman Beats Unemployment Using Needle and Thread

Milton Katunda is a craftsman, in Uganda’s capital Kampala, using needles and threads to craft his way out of the country’s youth unemployment crisis.

The 24-year-old graduate of Microfinance learned weaving from a neighbor during the Covid-19 Lockdown, and he has never looked back. He dreams of selling his pieces in every household within the city and export to the rest of world.

Rhonet Atwiine visited his home in Kireka, a township located 11 kilometers east of Kampala.
